What is Dermatophytosis?

Dermatophytosis is a skin disease caused by fungi belonging to the dermatophytes group, most commonly 3 types are microsporum, trychophyton and epidermophyton.

The 3 most common types of skin fungus are: Tinea versicolor, Ringworm, and Athlete’s foot.

When the skin is infected with fungus, it will show symptoms such as red rash, itching, blisters, and the fungal area has a coin-shaped rash, so it is often called (Ringworm). This disease commonly occurs in the groin, limbs, abdomen, chest, buttocks, armpits and can especially occur on the face, called facial ringworm.

Symptom of facial fungus
Symptoms of facial fungus are the appearance of pink or red patches, surrounded by scaly edges that cause itching and burning sensation for the patient. If facial fungus is not treated properly, it will leave concave or pockmarked scars that cause serious effects.

Treating skin fungus with topical medications

There are many types of topical creams and medications to treat skin fungus, however, you need to have a prescription from a dermatologist to avoid using the wrong medication that can cause skin inflammation or acne.

If the condition is severe and requires systemic treatment, you should seek the help of a dermatologist to check your skin condition and take oral medication.
